Marshmallow challenge

Winning team: Abigail, Chloe, Tamilore and Elaine

Children, in groups of four, took part in the marshmallow challenge. Each group had 20 pieces of spaghetti, a yard of string, a yard of masking tape and a marshmallow. To win, the team had to build the highest structure with a marshmallow on top. The key to success is teamwork.

Trip to Seaside

The weather forecast is for heavy cloud and light rain. Please bring a light waterproof coat, if you have one. Don’t forget, children in Year 5 are allowed to bring water guns, pistols and bombs, but must follow the rules when using these. These must be empty when taking on the coach.
Fingers crossed for a great day and not too much rain.

Science Museum

Just a reminder for Monday, please bring your packed lunch in a plastic bag so this can all be thrown. School uniform must be worn, but you do not need to wear a jumper; everyone will be given a sticker with school details on. Our train to return is booked and we are due back at school before 3:00. If we miss the train or it is delayed you should get a message via parentmail so please check your phones.

There should be no need to put on sun cream as once we have walked to Abbey Wood, the rest of the journey is under cover.

Congratulations to Kyonne and Temi on winning the Bexley Library Bus competition. They wrote wonderful alien stories as did all the children in the class.

DT: Making pizzas

After tasting and evaluating pizzas we then all designed and made pizzas. They were wonderfully tasty.

Golf

Earlier in the year we practised golf, so this afternoon we set up a nine hole golf course. There were lots of fantastic strokes including some holes in one.

Mean, median and mode

We have been learning about mena, median and mode; the words are very similar, so it is hard to remember what the words mean. This song helps us to remember the words.
